Whether you watched Oprah’s interviews with swingers, late night premium channel specials, or you caught one of the many prime time dramas featuring swingers, there is no denying it- the lifestyle is the new “it” subject.
In truth, this country is jam packed with millions of potential viewers who are either currently active or were at one point in their lives, “lifestylers.” Everyday, thousands of soccer moms and deacon dads secretly meet other couples on one of the many online swing sites, and then attend lavish takeovers where they can discreetly indulge their fantasies. This is done between consenting adults without the lying and breach of trust found in typical infidelity. Whether it is a private house party, a cruise ship takeover, a hotel takeover, or an entire casino convention, every party is high risk and has high stakes. It can run from thousands to millions of dollars to run a single party, and a single couple can expect to spend upwards of eight hundred dollars to attend a party, once you factor in hotel cost, travel, club/party fees, and alcohol. There’s no denying it- swinging is big business, and business is good.
The risks can be even greater. Depending on a persons position in the community, being “outed” can cause persecution by family, friends, neighbors, jobs, and if they’re really unlucky, the national news media.
Still, everyone is talking about swinging. Dozens have tried to put together a reality show on the “Lifestyle”, however, they have failed because of the risks. Very few people engaged in the lifestyle want to be outed. Yet that doesn’t diminish the interest in viewing material that pertains to the subject.
Now meet the Kings of Swing. James Callahan and his cast mates own and operate one of the few “on premise” club and hotel combos dedicated to the lifestyle. They are affiliated with two of the largest names in the swinging community- Hedonism, in Jamaica, and Swinglifestyle.com. Between James’ “Hedo Events” parties, SLS cruise ship takeovers, swinging conventions, and trips to Hedonism in Jamaica, millions of dollars are at stake. Follow along as James and his outrageous crew tackle a new dilemma in every formulated episode centering on a subject America can’t get enough of.
James is an outgoing, self-made entrepreneur (he was a homeless street kid at 16) who has risen to the cream of the crop in the swinging community (he now runs a multimillion dollar operation and is only 35). In every formula driven episode you will enjoy watching how he juggles all of the characters around him to bring a new party to life. His fiancé, Carmen, the beautiful and demure princess is loud and outspoken after a few drinks. Aka, Snooki with class. He still finds time for his girlfriend, Val, who is sexy and in charge- it is her way or the highway! Double that trouble when you bring in Ty, Val’s husband, and James’ best friend, whose sarcasm and wit would make George Carlin’s butthole pucker. It only gets better from there. At the club, the audience is in for a treat with “Speedy” Carlos. As James’ boisterous right hand man, he is more like the Mexican cartoon mouse than even his nickname would lead you to believe. Add in a dash of the smooth talking, suave bartender, Christian, and the sexy, soft spoken bartender, JaJa, that guys love to hit on (who was a gung-ho Marine before “her” operation), and top it off with Paul, James’ lawyer, who will make you a deal you can’t refuse- and you have a melting pot of characters no audience can get enough of.
This show not only negates the primary reason why most shows about the lifestyle never get off the ground or fail (our cast is already “out”), but it assures multi seasonal longevity with a menagerie of guest characters ranging from the common housewife to the famous porn star. It’s the perfect guilty pleasure for audiences from all walks of life who have an interest or curiosity in anything related to sex that is portrayed in a POSITIVE way. While you’ll never see sexual acts on the show (long live the FCC), it will certainly be the most informative, eye opening, and entertaining show to hit the reality genre in years!
